LEYLINE Terms of Service

Last updated: 10 July 2026. Operator: Mode-X Digital Development, United Kingdom ("we", "us"). By creating an account or playing LEYLINE (the "Game") you agree to these terms.

NOTE TO OPERATOR: this document is a solid working draft, not legal advice. Have a solicitor review it before public launch, particularly the liability and age sections.

1. The Game

LEYLINE is a location based game played outdoors on real streets and in real public places. You interact with virtual objects placed at real world coordinates.

2. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 16 years old, or the minimum age of digital consent in your country if higher. You are responsible for your account, your codename and your password. Codenames must not impersonate others or contain offensive content; we may rename or remove accounts that break this rule.

3. Safety first

You play entirely at your own risk. Never trespass. Never play while driving or cycling. Obey all laws, signage and property boundaries. Stay aware of your surroundings, of traffic and of other people. Virtual objects never require you to enter dangerous or private locations, and the presence of a node is not a representation that the location is safe or accessible. If a node appears to be on private land, report it in the app rather than approaching it.

4. Fair play

The following are prohibited and may result in suspension or permanent removal without notice: GPS spoofing or location falsification; automation, bots, scripts or modified clients; account sharing or selling; multiple accounts used to gain advantage; harassment or stalking of other players; exploiting bugs rather than reporting them; scraping the API beyond published rate limits.

5. Nominations and player content

When you submit node nominations, expeditions, or other content, you grant us a worldwide, royalty free licence to use, display and adapt that content within the Game and its promotional material. Submit only content you have the right to submit. We review nominations manually and may reject or remove any node at any time, including for safety, legal or landowner requests.

6. Virtual items

Lumen, anchors, pulses, keys and all other in game items have no monetary value, cannot be traded for money, and may be changed, rebalanced or removed as part of live game operation.

7. Service changes and termination

The Game is provided as is and as available. We may modify, suspend or discontinue the Game or any feature at any time. You may stop playing and request deletion of your account at any time (see the Privacy Policy).

8. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under law, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence. Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability to you is limited to 50 GBP. You acknowledge that outdoor play carries inherent risks that we do not control.

9. General

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If any clause is found unenforceable the remainder stands. We may update these terms; material changes will be announced in the app at least 14 days before they take effect.
